The forest that was hidden beneath the earth at a depth of 630 feet! Homeland of rare creatures

by time news
Archaeologists have unearthed more than 176 million cubic feet[630 m]of forest in Guangxi, southern China. Hidden beneath the earth, this tribe has disappeared, thrived and grown at the base of a pond with trees up to 130 meters high.

Chinese scientists speculate that the forest may be home to some unique species that have not been discovered or reported by scientists and researchers for decades. “I would not be surprised to find species in these caves that have not yet been scientifically reported or described,” said Sen Lixin, who led the expedition.

And according to the Chinese government, the site has three caves within its walls and a well-preserved ancient forest below. The sinkholes in the area are part of the karst landscapes and the groundwater forms when the rocks dissolve, causing the “roof” of the cave to collapse. Locals call such pits Shenyang Tiankeng or “the bottomless pit”. According to the Guangxi Daily newspaper, such “pits” are dangerous, strange, steep and beautiful.

Zhang Yuanhai, President of the Asian Caves Coalition, said: Dense vegetation and trees can be seen when descending 100 meters vertically.

When the team reached the bottom of the pit and classified it as a tropical rainforest, the trees were found to be elongated, tall but very slender.

“The team went into the cave and found a large wild banana at the bottom of the pit, as well as a rare square bamboo.
