The former Archbishop of Paris Mgr Aupetit targeted by an investigation for sexual assault on a vulnerable person

by time news

This time, it is no longer a question of talking about ambiguous behavior, or even a “love affair”. Investigators from the Brigade for the Repression of Crime against Persons (BRDP) have been tasked with investigating acts of sexual assault targeting the former archbishop of Paris Michel Aupetit, the Paris prosecutor’s office reports.

These investigations were launched after the filing of a report made by the diocese of Paris. Our colleagues from BFMTV specify that this report would relate more specifically to an affair maintained by Michel Aupetit with a vulnerable person, namely a woman who is the subject of a judicial protection measure.

“I don’t even know what I’m being accused of”

Solicited this Tuesday evening by email, Michel Aupetit replied to us: “I do not know what to tell you because I do not even know what I am accused of. I just learned it just now. »

The Archbishop of Paris presented his resignation to the Pope at the end of November 2021, after the publication of an investigation by the weekly Le Point, according to which Michel Aupetit had had a relationship with a woman in 2012. which he had however denied, conceding that he had simply behaved ambiguously towards him. Pope Francis had accepted his resignation, while denouncing the “gossip” which prevented Michel Aupetit from “governing”, his “reputation” having been damaged.

Since then, the former general practitioner had settled in an abbey located not far from Toulouse in Haute-Garonne. “Now I’m really serene,” he confided to us on April 9. His lawyer, Jean Reinhart, went there with his prognosis. “It is not impossible that we will see him again one day in the light”, he told us.
