The mayor of Ioannina, Thomas Begas, met in his office with the ambassador of Belgium in Greece, Marc Calcoen, as well as the honorary consul of Belgium in Ioannina, Giorgos Papageorgiou.
Mr. Calcoen is on a private visit to our city, however he has asked to meet with the mayor, with whom he had a very constructive discussion.
During it, the long-standing relations between Greece and Belgium were highlighted, mainly due to the economic immigrants who have now created an important Greek community in Belgium, while ways of closer cooperation in matters related to culture and tourism were also discussed. In the immediate future, meetings with Mr. Papageorgiou will follow in order to decide on more specific goals and initiatives.
The meeting ended with the exchange of souvenirs.
