The founder of the Cash app, Bob Lee, was walking around dying in the streets of San Francisco after being stabbed last Tuesday and asking for help, but was ignored by employees and passers-by. 43-year-old Lee tried to get help from a person in a parked car, collapsed and the car driver just drove off.

Lee called 911 at 2:34 a.m. begging for help, yelling at passersby that he had been stabbed and that he needed to go to the hospital. Police arrived to help less than six minutes later and found Lee unconscious with two stab wounds to the chest.

He was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not announced any arrests or names of suspects as of this moment. Also, the police do not know if it was a random stabbing or if Lee was the target.

The fatal stabbings took place in the Rincon Hill neighborhood of downtown San Francisco, an affluent area of the city. Photos seen from the scene showed Lee leaving a trail of blood along the sidewalk before collapsing, the San Francisco Standard reported.

“We don’t want to be too late and we certainly don’t need to speculate, so we’re going to follow the evidence and release what we can as soon as we can,” San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott said.

Lee, a father of two and longtime Bay Area resident, recently moved to Miami because he felt San Francisco was “going downhill,” revealed friend Jake Shields. “He was in the ‘good’ part of town and it appears to be a random attack,” Shields tweeted.

His murder sparked outrage in the tech industry and also prompted Elon Musk to express concern about public safety in the city. “Many people I know have been severely attacked,” Musk tweeted. “Violent crime in San Francisco is appalling and even if attackers are caught, they are too often released.”
