At the founding party of the MLPD on August 21, 1982, 106,337.23 DM were collected! It was so unbelievably large that an acquaintance of Willi Dickhut from Sauerland didn’t think it was possible and kept bugging him until he could prove it to him.
On October 9, 1982, the Rote Fahne reported: “At the end of the fundraising campaign, we can state the proud amount of 1,436,092.76 DM.” The original fundraising goal was even doubled in a period of only nine months! (Source: RF 21/1982, p.8)
