That is the presence – valuable, although at the moment discreet – of establishments with a presence in Spain in the first edition of the 50Best list dedicated to the best hotels of the world, presented this Tuesday night in London.

This classification is headed by the Italian establishment Passalacqua, a spectacular accommodation on the shores of Lake Como. Staying overnight in its luxurious rooms costs around 1,200 euros per night. Italy, with five hotels on the list, is one of the countries that obtains the best harvest in this area, only surpassed by France and the United Kingdom, both with six names but less specific weight.

The Rosewood hotel in Hong Kong, considered the best in Asia and second in this new world ranking, together with the Four Seasons at Chao Phraya River in Bangkok, the Thai capital, complete the podium of honor. Among the top ten positions there is only one other European (the Four Seasons in the Italian city of Florence in ninth place), along with an American (the One&Only Mandarina in Puerto Vallarta in Mexico, which is eighth), two Africans (La Mamounia in Marrakech in Morocco, which is sixth, followed by Soneva Fushi in the Maldives islands) and three Asian ones (The Upper House also in Hong Kong, fourth on the list; Aman Tokyo in the Japanese capital, fifth; and the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok).

“A beacon of modern hospitality,” says the jury regarding this already well-known luxurious accommodation in Madrid. With more than 120 establishments around the world, the historic chain of Canadian origin – although controlled since 2021 by a firm owned by American magnate Bill Gates – also places three other hotels on the list, specifically those located in Bangkok (position 3) , Florence (9) and Athens (35).

Faced with the vibrant dynamism of the Spanish capital, the Six Senses of Ibiza, located in Cala Xarraca, north of the famous island of the Balearic archipelago, offers “the perfect getaway to get lost and find yourself again during your stay”, words of the organization.
