Modest football is also doing its bit to help Ukrainian children who have had to leave their country after the invasion started by Russia more than a month ago. A conflict that has claimed thousands of victims and has forced thousands of families to seek refuge in other parts of Europe, including Spain. One of those families is Ivan y Mike Grosstwo boys aged 13 and 15 who landed last weekend in Madrid with their mother and who have found refuge, warmth and a club to practice the sport they love in the FPA (Football Player Academy) of Las Rozasfounded in June 2017 under the motto «Football and Training, our passion».

Coincidences of fate, Ivan and Mike found a familiar face in this Madrid club, that of their current Sports Director Marcos Trueba, former director of the Malaga International Academy who had coincided with them training in the Ukrainian capital on a campus organized with Lokomotiv kyiv. The mother was the one who recognized Trueba, whom she approached to show him a photo from those days. One more reason for joy for two young people who will debut next weekend with the children’s and the cadet of their new team. Two children who have begun to recover their smiles helped by the teammates and coaches of a club founded by Pedro Martínez, David Serrano, Chicho Serrano and Carlos Cascallana.

All of them soccer professionals and endorsed by their work and recognition within grassroots soccer and professional soccer, in 2017 they decided to found a different and unique club as an alternative to the schools and teams that already existed in Las Rozas.
