the France team finds its royal puck – Liberation

by time news

For the second time in its history, the French women’s ice hockey team has risen to the elite after beating Norway on Saturday in front of 4,000 people in Angers.

They find the highest level of hockey, which they had left in 2019. The French hockey players indeed beat Norway 4 goals to 1 for their last match of the World Cup in the second division on Saturday evening in Angers, a success synonymous with promotion in the Elite World Championship next season. The French will therefore compete in the 2023 World Cup in the first division.

On the Ducs d’Angers ice rink, with an estimated audience, according to the Team, to 4000 spectators – unheard of for women’s hockey – the French have won three of their four matches this week, against Slovakia (4-0), the Netherlands (4-1) and against Norway (4- 1). They lost only once against Austria (2-1 after extra time).

The French had already won the second division of the World Cup in 2018 at home in Vaujany, to climb for the first time in their history in the elite. The following year, they were immediately back down with a single victory after extra time and three defeats.
