The freakiest nightled by the film critic and writer Jesus Palacioscelebrates a new installment on the occasion of the 22nd Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Film Festival. Once again, the proposal goes through two different screenings that, in both cases, combine the projection of short films and feature films. The exhibition will stop at Cinesa El Muelle this Friday, April 21 and Saturday, April 22, at 10:00 p.m.
The edition will show two Spanish short films: Phonoramaa new job Alex Rey“our most original animated filmmaker”, recalls the film critic, and Parkingshort film debut by professional photographer Pepe Castro. Regarding the first, Jesús Palacios points out that it is “Quantum fiction —as well as grotesque—, in 2D animation format” and that situates “between Stanislav Lem and Jardiel Poncela, Asimov and Hitchcock, to the greater glory of Nicolas Cage and Professor Bacterio”.

At least that is what the programmer, film critic and writer Jesús Palacios, a benchmark of the universe, states for the catalog of the 22nd Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Film Festival “truly freak” which has coordinated the most hooligan section of the festival since its inception, which proposes a selection of fantastic and horror films that have been exported and welcomed by other film festivals.
And with this vocation comes a program made up of a series of titles that Palacios sees as “the small bushes, magic mushrooms and green shoots of genuine freak vocation that emerges in the darkest and most hidden corners”. In fact, he comments that this cinema is “increasingly elusive“because it is hidden in the “fallacious friquismo planted and cultivated by the big companies and audiovisual corporations”.
