With the aim of decarbonizing its activities, producing additives used in the manufacture of photovoltaic panels and increasing its production of additives for biofuels, the French chemical group Arkema will invest 310 million euros in France, China and the United States. United.

First, Arkema decided to invest 130 million euros for its French acrylic production site in Carling. As reported by AFP, this involves developing a new purification technology” intended to “improve energy efficiency and reduce the carbon intensity of its operations” as well as “the use of solvents”.

In China, the group plans to invest 50 million euros to expand its organic peroxides site in Changshu. Its capacity will be multiplied by 2.5 in order to “support its Asian customers in strong growth markets, particularly in renewable energies”, indicates the company. And to specify that organic peroxides are an “essential component for the manufacture of photovoltaic panels”.

In the United States, the group will increase its global production capacity for DMDS (dimethyl disulfide), an additive used for the production of renewable fuels. According to their press release, the use of DMDS presents itself “as the most efficient solution to support biorefineries in the conversion of vegetable oils and waste from the agro-food industry into renewable fuels”.

For the period of the next six years, Arkema has also revealed its financial forecasts; the company expects a turnover of “around 12 billion euros” in 2028 (compared to 11.5 billion euros in 2022, and 9.4 billion estimated on average over the previous six-year period 2018 -2023).
