The French group Riou Glass has bought the 100% of the capital of Vidresif, the company located in Porqueres (Pla de l’Estany). This is the second major acquisition that Riou Glass has made since its foundation in 1979. The purchase of Vidresif is part of the expansion plan in Spain that the French group wants to make. Now it will do so by benefiting from the share of the national market that the company from Girona has. At the same time, Riou is expected to expand the catalog of high performance technical glass in the Spanish and French markets. Vidresif is a company that invoices 25 million every year and has a staff of 115 workers. This will be the second most important center that the French group will have out of the 23 that the group has.
In 1994, the company Vidresif was founded by Joan Sánchez and Carmen Acedo. In less than 30 years it has positioned itself as an industrial benchmark in the sector. In fact, 20 years ago the company was the first national brand to install a ‘jumbo’ assembly line that transformed large-sized glazing (6,000 x 3,210 mm). Today, the facilities that this company has in the demarcation of Girona exceed 15,000 square meters and this allows them to transform more than 175,000 m2 of high performance glass per year.
In fact, the company manufactures and markets products of high performance and design. They have the technology of digital printing on large glass and this positions them in the field of architecture and construction. In addition, they have a logistics platform in the Balearic Islands to cover all the demand of the three islands. Vidresif’s client portfolio is from all over the principality, Andorra, the Balearic Islands and the Levant.
As for Riou Glass, it has a consolidated business of approximately 260 million a year and is a benchmark at European level in the technological evolution of the sector. Each year it manufactures and transforms 100,000 tons of flat glass and has a wide range of products. The group has 23 industrial centers: 16 are in France, 3 in Belgium, 3 in Italy and now the one in Porqueres will be added, after closing the purchase of Vidresif.
