Every year, millions of vacationers opt for camping. 22 million tourists go there. There is something for all tastes and at all prices. Example on the Lac de Cazaux.

It’s a seemingly unequal battle. On the one hand, behemoths with ever more services, and on the other, less expensive and more accessible campsites. At the moment, the former are redeeming the latter. Between the Gironde and the Landes on Lake Cazaux, two campsites face each other: that of the lake which is a two star, and opposite that of the shore which is a five star. These are two conceptions and two universes that clash. At Domaine de la Rive, there are 15 hectares of land with state-of-the-art infrastructure. Each year, more than 40,000 holidaymakers spend their stay in this place, and prices vary according to the services offered.

Lower rates for small campsites

It’s a model that pays off. In France, these groups own only 10% of the campsites, but nevertheless generate 50% of the total turnover. The giants of the sector no longer hesitate to buy the smallest campsites. However, traditional camping has not said its last word. The first promise is in particular that of the price, much lower than in campsites with multiple services. The comfort is more basic, but satisfies the clientele. To hold its prices and remain profitable, there are only three employees at the Lac de Cazaux campsite.
