the French Intelligence Research Center attacked for its analyzes

by time news

Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, public attacks against the French Intelligence Research Center (CF2R) are legion. the think-tankstructured as an Association 1901 and founded by former French intelligence personnel of Gaullist persuasion, is qualified with a vengeance as “pro-Moscow” et “dispensary using Kremlin language elements”. After all, “We are at war” ! But at war with what? Against opinions diverging from those of NATO, however documented and substantiated they may be? Already, the media RT and Sputnik have suffered the wrath of the European Union. In turn, the CF2R defends itself.

Among its objectives is the “demystifying intelligence and explaining its role to the general public”. In other words, popularization at the service of the French people. Whether or not we share the sovereignist point of view of the 25 C2FR researchers, until very recently, their studies were appreciated by those who are used to considering different points of view in terms of strategic evaluation.

The attacks in question are the subject of a CF2R press release published on April 19. The collective reaffirms its refusal to “to participate in the unilateral hype and in the enterprise of distortion of reality orchestrated by biased actors”cherishing “the independence of his analyzes of the war in Ukraine”. The authors explain that it is necessary to “to take into account the historical reasons that led to this tragedy, because they highlight, like it or not, the role and responsibility of NATO and the Ukrainian government in this conflict which should never have taken place .” And to remember: “No one denies that Russia is the aggressor and the CF2R has clearly condemned this invasion.”

More specifically, the text returns to the case of General Éric Vidaud. The latter was sacked from his position as director of military intelligence, only seven months after his appointment. Contrary to press reports that Mr. Vidaud was grossly mistaken about operations in Ukraine, the statement explained:

“It is legitimate to wonder about the motivations of those who seek […] prevent reasoned and independent thinking. We are tempted to call them conspiracy theorists — for them, everything is systematically Russia’s fault and all those who disagree with their analyzes are Putin’s agents of influence — and Holocaust deniers, because they do not take into account only the elements served by the Ukrainian and Anglo-Saxon narrative, systematically excluding any information from another source. The dismissal of the commanding general of the DRM is part of this logic, because this quality service did not adhere to nor wanted to reproduce the version of the facts that the Americans wanted to impose on all NATO members. The criticism that has been made of him is therefore totally unfounded and unjust.”

On its website, the CF2R has made many other analyzes available for the past twenty years.
