“The Frustrating Reality of Long Wait Times and Budget Constraints for ADHD Treatment in the Netherlands”

I had contacted ADHDCentral today about my wait time. I’ve been registered since February and so far I haven’t heard anything. By contacting me I found out that the budget with the ASR contract for ADHDcentral has already been reached. No new appointments can be made. Of course I had to do this myself.

I then called ASR, who reported that the budget ceiling had indeed been reached. They are in contact with ADHD Central (Breda) for a new budget. But I have no hope in this at all. I have received information to perhaps get help elsewhere, but the waiting times are long there too. I’ve been waiting 16 weeks and no prospect of treatment.

My name is Sharona, I am 34 years old and I have suffered from the symptoms of ADHD for years. I started seeking help because it is increasingly affecting my life. I received an unofficial diagnosis from a psychologist from PSY-GO, but she could not give me an official diagnosis, but she was able to say with 100% certainty that I have it. Because of this she can’t help me because I don’t have an official diagnosis of ADHD because all my complaints and setbacks are ADHD related.

So I don’t get any help because I have an unofficial diagnosis of ADHD from the psychologist. I can only get help if I have this diagnosis. I can’t get this diagnosis because my health insurance company is out of budget for this disorder and looking for something else through GGZ has even longer waiting times, which makes it all take much longer and it’s not even clear if I can get help elsewhere.

I want help, I pay for it, I am entitled to it and it is being made so difficult for me now.

Am I the only one who gets quite gen*^%id at asr?
