As part of the investigation of a criminal case on sabotage on a gas pipeline near the Crimean village of Perevalnoye, the FSB received information about the connection of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People (Mejlis), banned in Russia, with the Ukrainian special services.
As the “RG” correspondent was told at the FSB Public Relations Center, according to the detainees, in addition to participating in the preparation of the sabotage, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine through the Mejlis tried to organize protest actions of the Crimean Tatar population on the peninsula. The uncle and nephew of the Akhtemovs spoke about this in detail on the operative video of the interrogation at the FSB.
As previously reported, on September 4, FSB officers detained residents of the Republic of Crimea – mediator – deputy chairman of the Mejlis Nariman Dzhelyalov, direct perpetrators of the sabotage Asan and Aziz Akhtemov. The territorial security agency opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of Russia (“Sabotage”). The accused face 10 to 15 years in prison.
