Currently, to add a person in WhatsApp it is necessary the phone number. However, this will change in the future to allow for greater security and privacy for users.

WaBetaInfo indicated that it found a new function within the code from application which would in the future allow users to be added through a name userinstead of using the phone number. However, this update is under development and the testing phase has not yet started with the beta.
The new functionality will be included in the WhatsApp update 2.22.25.10. Using this tool it will be easier to identify the contacts that were lost. On the other hand, it will also strengthen the security y privacy of the users, since by not providing the telephone number, no personal data and that may trigger future risks.
