Analysis of historical data and projections for 2032 bring insights into trends and Brazil’s strategic role in the international agricultural commodities market

Brazilian agriculture has experienced a period of great growth in production and productivity in recent decades, driven by technological advances combined with robust and growing international demand. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in 2021, 5 the world produced, in value, approximately US$6 trillion in agribusiness products at current values, with Brazil accounting for 2.6%, a value equivalent to US$158 billion (Figure 1). This result places Brazil in 5th place in the ranking of world production in value, remembering that the FAO classification encompasses all products originating from agriculture, such as agricultural products, foods, beverages, fibers, natural rubber and several other categories, with the Adjustment of quantities is made by a vector of prices in dollars, which carries the problem of variation in exchange rates around the world.
