The Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikret Amirov for the first time presented the project “Jazz Evening” (Caz axşami) with the participation of the laureate of international competitions, Honored Artist Emil Afrasiyab, which was a great success, the press service of the Philharmonic told Day.Az.

The evening was dedicated to the 84th birthday of the outstanding pianist, founder of the jazz-mugam musical direction, composer, State Prize laureate, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Vagif Mustafazadeh (03/16/1940 – 12/16/1979).

Among the guests were representatives of state and public structures, cultural and scientific figures, creative youth, families of martyrs and veterans of the Karabakh war.

Director of the Ganja State Philharmonic, Honored Artist Ramil Gasimov spoke about the life and work of the Master, who left an unsurpassed spiritual legacy for his contemporaries and future generations, who won the hearts of millions of listeners with his originality, virtuoso technique, and unique playing.

Rector of the Azerbaijan National Conservatory, holder of the Shohrat and Sharaf orders, People’s Artist Siyavush Karimi noted the great contribution of Emil Afrasiyab to modern jazz art.

Emil Afrasiyab performed famous compositions by Vagif Mustafazadeh, as well as his own improvisations. People’s Artist Enver Sadigov and his instrumental ensemble Qaytağı, Honored Artist Abbas Bagirov also took part in the concert program, and theatrical performances were also presented. The performances of the artists were accompanied by applause from the audience.
