After more than ten years since the beginning of works, the Contorno de Jacaraípe, on ES 115, in Serra, is close to being completed, with delivery scheduled for April 21, 2024. The urban mobility construction, which has 8 .5 km long, it runs from the intersection of Avenida Lagoa Juara and Avenida Minas Gerais, in Jacaraípe, to the beginning of ES 264, known as Estrada de Putiri, in Nova Almeida.

The highway, which constitutes a new alternative for travel between the two resorts, aims to relieve the flow of ES 010 (Avenida Abido Saad), mainly by absorbing the traffic of large vehicles. The A Gazeta report visited the construction and shows details of the project. Check it out in the video above.

See some details of the construction, which is under the supervision of the Department of Buildings and Highways of the State of Espírito Santo (DER-ES):

  • Two 10.5m wide lanes, with three lanes in each direction;
  • Sidewalk 2m wide on both sides;
  • Cycle path 2.5m wide;
  • Central bed with a width of 8m;
  • Clearance (2x) between the roadway and median with a width of 0.75m;
  • Clearance (2x) between the roadway and sidewalk/cycle path with a width of 0.75m;
  • More than 750m of viaducts over the wetland areas that were cut by the highway.

The work received an investment of approximately R$230 million and more than 140 employees are involved in this work. (Vitor Jubini)

With an investment of approximately R$230 million, more than 140 workers are involved in the final stages of the highway, such as earthworks, with 70% of the process already completed; paving, beginning of operation; and implementation of drainage devices — with the treatment of compressible soils, in addition to works to create viaducts.

According to DER-ES, the expectation is that Contorno de Jacaraípe will receive approximately five thousand vehicles per day, with an estimated speed on the track of 80 km/h.

Resumption of work

The Jacaraípe Contour is an old promise of the State Government. After a long period of interruption, the work on ES 115 was resumed in December 2021. According to DER-ES, this is a complex work, as technical analyzes found terrain with compressible conditions (soft soils) in the sections beginning (Jacaraípe, close to Avenida Minas Gerais) and ending (Nova Almeida, close to Estrada de Putiri). Therefore, it was necessary to include specialized services to improve the support capacity of these lands.

During construction, the agency also encountered difficulties in finalizing the expropriation process of some areas in the Jacaraípe region.
