These constant positions, also supporting the autonomy initiative as the only solution to the Sahara Conflict within the framework of the sovereignty and national and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, were reaffirmed at the end of the working session joint, which brought together Sunday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the GCC in the Saudi capital Riyadh, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, with Their Highnesses and Excellencies the ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, president of the current session of the GCC, underlined that the countries of the Council reaffirm their constant support for the Moroccanness of the Sahara and their firm attachment to the sovereignty of Morocco over the whole of its territory, as well as their support for UN decisions on the subject.
For his part, the Secretary General of the GCC reiterated the positions of the Council and its resolutions supporting the Moroccan character of the Sahara, highlighting the importance of strategic cooperation between the GCC and the Kingdom of Morocco.
This meeting is part of the strong relations and the global and renewed strategic partnership linking Morocco and the GCC countries, the foundations of which were laid by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, and his brothers the leaders of the GCC member countries, since the Morocco-Gulf Countries Summit, held in Riyadh on April 20, 2016.
