The Union of Bulgarian National Electronic Media (SBNEM) unanimously elected the director general of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR) Milen Mitev as its chairman, the organization reports. Members of the association are “BTV Media Group”, Bulgarian National Television (BNT), Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA), BNR, Darik Radio and “Nova Broadcasting Group”.
The regular annual general meeting in Sofia decided that the previous chairman of SBNEM, Hristo Hristov, executive director of Darik Radio, would continue to be a member of the Management Board and re-elected to it Vyara Ankova, a member of the Program Board of “Nova Broadcasting Group”. Mitev did not take part in the vote for chairman, writes BTA.
In December 2023, Milen Mitev became the first Bulgarian elected as a member of the Governing Council of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the largest public media organization in the world. He is also a member of the Legal Committee and the Radio Committee of the EBU.
Milen Mitev was born on March 4, 1984. He graduated with a degree in “Law” at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”. He started working in BNR in 2009 as a legal consultant. In the period August 2018 – July 2019, he held the position of director of the Directorate “Legal and Human Resources” of the BNR. From September 2019 to March 2020, he worked at BTA, first as Chief Legal Counsel and then as Chief Secretary. Since April 1, 2020, he is the director of the Administrative Directorate of the BNR. On October 27, 2021, the Electronic Media Council elected him Director General of BNR.
