On this occasion, the minister highlighted the High Royal Directions aimed at overcoming the problem of drought and water stress which involves urgent and future challenges requiring the completion of the construction of major hydraulic projects in all regions of the Kingdom. , notes the same source.

Given sustainable territorial development, it is imperative to accelerate both the construction of planned dams and the completion of hydraulic interconnections between basins and seawater desalination stations, in addition to consolidating the economy. water, particularly in the field of irrigation, underlined the minister.

In the same context, Mr. Baraka called for the need to address the issue of water in all its dimensions and with the required rigor by acting against any form of waste and arbitrary and irresponsible exploitation of water resources, while by encouraging the reuse of wastewater, the rationalization of groundwater exploitation, and the preservation of groundwater tables.

Several themes were also examined during this meeting, including the hydrological situation, securing drinking water supply systems in all regions of the Kingdom, rationalizing the consumption of this vital resource for the supply of drinking water and irrigation, as well as the measures to be taken at the level of each basin to ensure the satisfaction of 100% of drinking water needs and 80% of irrigation needs.

The directors of Morocco’s ten hydraulic basins also presented presentations on the current water situation in the different regions of the Kingdom, as well as the progress of projects aimed at improving water supply and its development. at the national level.
