The General Electricity Company holds the National Oil Corporation responsible for the grid fluctuations and power outages

by times news cr

The spokesman for the General Electricity Company, Wiam Al-Tayeb, said that the fluctuation in fuel supplies to power stations is not a recent development, but rather a crisis that has been ongoing for months, which has had a negative impact on production and the network as a whole, according to him.

Al-Tayeb added in an intervention with Al-Ahrar that they had previously addressed the head of the National Oil Corporation and the Brega Oil Marketing Company about the need to increase the quantities of fuel reaching the stations so that the company can meet the growing needs for energy, but fuel supplies are still fluctuating, he said.

Al-Taeb pointed out that the Tobruk station has 3 units that were out of service during the past few days, due to the unavailability of fuel, which is transported from the company’s warehouses, which resulted in a loss in the production process.

Al-Tayeb explained that the West Tripoli station needs 4,000 cubic meters of fuel per day, as does the Zawiya dual station, and the South Tripoli station needs 2,500 cubic meters per day, as does the Zahra station, and the Tobruk station needs 3,000 cubic meters per day, and the Misurata dual and North Benghazi need 2,000 cubic meters each, and the Kufra station needs 350 cubic meters per day, stressing that the quantities did not arrive as they requested in their correspondence with the National Oil Corporation.

Al-Tayeb stated that they sent a letter to the Attorney General to inform him of the situation, explaining that the electricity company requested an investigation to determine the reasons for the fluctuation in fuel supplies and the irregularity of fuel quantities according to what was agreed upon, according to him.
