The Generalitat rules out presenting itself in future editions of the Winter Olympic Games because “the next candidacies have already been given”, sources from the Vice-Presidency Department have informed Europa Press this Saturday.
The same sources have stated that the Spanish Olympic Committee (COE) “has not responded” to the candidacy that the Government presented alone in July 2022 after the joint candidacy of Catalonia and Aragon for the 2030 Winter Olympic Games was ruled out. .

They have pointed out that now it is the COE “who must make a move”, and they have indicated that if it does not call them from the Government they will not take any further steps.
“In this legislature we almost no longer expect there to be another possible candidacy” for the Winter Olympic Games, they added. According to sources, if in the future the COE were interested in formulating a new candidacy, this “should be re-analyzed due to issues such as drought,” among other aspects.
