The next 12 and 13 May it will be performed at the Central Theatre of Sevilla, Make love (a musical by the Gestring Sisters)hand in hand with Gestring Sisters. Piece with which we can celebrate its ten years as a dance company.
The pieces that I have seen by the Gestring Sisters have shown me that kitsch (after its corresponding scenic investigation) can be understood as a bottomless pit, in which the so-called “common sense” that we all share is, precisely, the place where the fact that Laura Morales and Greta Garcia they will manage to “derail us”, to the point of shouting with conviction that “we must adore the Gestring Sisters”. How not to do it, they have managed to develop a language in which one does not know if they are sneaking a kind of “subliminal message” into you, or that they simply do what they do because they find it fun to do it, as if an experiment was treated (of course, in the absence of having found a “very elaborate pretext”).
I do not rule out the possibility that seeing his work has made me trip over my own ankles, as if I had tried to decipher a content that had been jealously hidden. But I find his aesthetics and ease so disconcerting, that I have no doubt that, at the very least, his line of work is made up of idiograms that try to give new meaning to what they resort to. As they affirm they come softer than ever, as if they had just emerged from Tranquilium itself, led by an enlightened Nicole Kidman. Now the Gestring are different, improved, sometimes indistinguishable by the human eye. Sometimes even multiplied. Because now Laura and Greta are multiple, mutants and, of course, in love.
Make love it is a musical. A production in which songs and dances, instrumental accompaniments and interludes, and often also dances, are integrated into an emotional plot. All this to celebrate its tenth anniversary.
When asked about the reason for a musical, they answer that is he fideal format to carry out our research. Format that unites all our passions and that, although detractors and deniers of its pleasures, we know that it is a format that meets all the requirements of sensory enjoyment.
We will create lyrics that remain engraved in the hearts of the public so that they can hum at home with a smile while preparing an omelette. The song has always been part of our work.
