A first experience that has gone wonderfully. This is how CD Arenal describes the first edition of the Gijón Cup, the week-old competition that this sports entity has promoted on the El Tragamón soccer field. A tournament that came to an end on Saturday morning with a lively awards ceremony in the five categories that were in contention. Namely, the prebenjamines tournaments, the 8-a-side soccer benjamines, the sala benjamines, the debutantes and 8-a-side soccer juniors. The top four finishers in each category, which brought together teams with children between the ages of five and eleven years, they took their corresponding trophy and each one of them a soccer ball. “It has been a success with the public and behavior on the part of all the players, parents and fans. We are convinced that this competition must be established every year and we want to grow and add more teams,” said Víctor Holguera, the coordinator from CD Arenal after the awards ceremony.
