The Giro belongs to Bernal, Ganna wins the time trial

AGI – Egan Bernal won the 2021 Giro d’Italia: after the success of the Tour in 2019, the Colombian won the 104th edition of the race at the end of a time trial won by Filippo Ganna. The blue time trial champion won despite a puncture in the last kilometer that forced him to change bikes. Second Rémi Cavagna (Deceuninck-QuickStep) who crashed into the barriers in the final, third Edoardo Affini (Jumbo-Visma).

Confirmed podium

The final podium is confirmed with the 24-year-old Colombian Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers) who held the pink jersey for the Milanese catwalk in front of Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Victorious) a 1’29”  a a Simon Yates (Team BikeExchange), terzo.

Second Colombian to triumph in the Giro

Bernal is the second Colombian ever to win the Giro after Nairo Quintana in 2014. At just 24 years old he confirms himself as a great man in a race dominated from start to finish, with the pink jersey torn in the ninth stage with the victory of Campo Felice.
