DECRYPTION – The French champions have withstood the shocks and pitfalls of 2022 well. But the specialists remain very cautious.

Record inflation, soaring interest rates, war in Ukraine, energy crisis, putting the Chinese economy under glass… The elements have been unleashed in 2022. “The year will be remembered by investors for its exceptional character“, notes Stéphane Monier, director of investments at Lombard Odier.

At the end of September, the CAC 40 posted a drop of more than 20% compared to January. It ended the year with a decline of 8.5%. It thus limits the damage compared to other major indices. The German Dax, its closest rival, lost almost 12%. The EuroStoxx 50, the index of the 50 largest European companies, is losing around 11%. His fall was largely cushioned by the French champions.
