The Governing Council examines a cooperation agreement between Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman in the field of maritime transport and ports

Rabat – The Governing Council examined on Thursday the cooperation agreement in the field of maritime transport and ports, signed on July 4, 2023 in Rabat, between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman, as well as the draft law No. 39.23 approving said agreement.

The two texts were presented by the Secretary General of the Government, Mohamed Hajoui, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad, Nasser Bourita, indicated the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with the parliament, government spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, during a press briefing after the Council.

The cooperation agreement, he said, aims to implement the contribution of both parties to the development of economic and commercial relations, as well as maritime activities, with a view to developing, facilitating and organizing commercial maritime transport between both countries, and use their ports and national maritime fleets for the achievement of common development.

It also aims to encourage shipping companies, organize maritime transport operations and facilitate the exchange of expertise in the fields of new technologies, in addition to promoting cooperation between the two countries in related works. port activities and services, ship maintenance, as well as port safety and security, and environmental protection within the port.
