The Council of Ministers approved a draft Memorandum on cooperation in the field of energy transition between the Ministry of Energy of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.

In the field of energy, Bulgaria actively partners with Japan both at the institutional and corporate level. The two countries are exploring the possibilities of deepening these relations in new sector technologies, the press service of the government said.

The memorandum envisages that Bulgaria and Japan will explore the possibilities of promoting cooperation in the fields of natural gas and nuclear energy.

Bulgaria implements an energy policy following the European Union’s goals for security, competitiveness and a resource-efficient economy with zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. One of the main priorities of our country is the diversification of the sources and routes of energy resources, which will guarantee security and competitive prices for consumers.

Of interest to Bulgaria are Japanese experience in energy innovations, including new control systems, energy storage batteries, charging infrastructure for electric cars and others.

The two sides will encourage the inclusion and participation of qualified companies from one side in energy projects carried out in the other side, including in the field of hydropower.
