This project, he specified, comes in the wake of the challenges generated by the Covid-19 pandemic relating to drug safety in Morocco, in the sense that this global health crisis has revealed the pressing need to guarantee in a sustainable manner the availability of medicines, including vaccines, as an essential element to combat health crises and strengthen health care.
The project thus intends to guarantee the vaccine sovereignty of the Kingdom through the establishment of a national industry responding to national and continental demand, and to support this industry and guarantee the quality of vaccines produced locally or imported and ensure their compliance. with the standards in force at the international level, he added.
Given the urgent nature of the establishment of an effective and comprehensive legal framework, explained Mr. Baitas, a draft decree-law was developed with the particular objective of creating a national system for the official release of batches of vaccines and serums for human use.
This national system aims to establish a procedure for reviewing production status and the results of quality control tests for each batch of vaccine or serum intended for human use subject to marketing authorization. the market, he concluded.
