The Government Council adopts a draft decree relating to the regulation of the electricity sector and the creation of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority

Rabat – The Government Council adopted, on Monday, draft decree No. 2.23.1115 implementing Article 37 of Law No. 48.15, relating to the regulation of the electricity sector and the creation of the National Electricity Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

Presented by the Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, on behalf of the Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali, this project is part of the strengthening of the legislative framework of the electricity sector, specifies a press release from the Ministry Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of relations with Parliament, government spokesperson.

And to recall that the ANRE was created under law n°48-15, as a legal entity under public law with financial autonomy, in order to ensure the proper functioning of the free electricity market and to regulate the access of self-producers to the national electricity transmission network.

The said project aims, continues the same source, to define the threshold of the contribution of the parties having submitted the dispute to the Authority, in accordance with article 37 of the aforementioned law, which stipulates that the parties having seized the President of the Authority in order to submit the dispute to the Dispute Resolution Committee, must pay a contribution paid to the Authority which determines the amount within the limit of a threshold fixed by regulation, in particular to avoid any unreasonable submission.
