The Government Council inquires about an agreement between Morocco and Burkina Faso on the transfer of convicted persons

Rabat – The Government Council, meeting Thursday in Rabat, under the chairmanship of the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, was informed of an agreement on the transfer of convicted persons between the government of the Kingdom of Morocco and that of Burkina Faso, signed on June 9 in Dakhla, and of draft law No. 38.23 under which it approves said agreement.

This agreement was presented by the Minister Delegate for Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas, on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

At a press briefing following the weekly meeting of the Governing Council, Mr. Baitas indicated that under this convention, which aims to establish broad-based mutual cooperation in the area of ​​the transfer of sentenced persons, a person sentenced in the territory of one of the parties may express his or her wish to be transferred either to the sentencing State or to the administering State, subject to a series of conditions.
