What is it about : A government delegation went to discuss with the producers of Soja and Coton du Septentrion this week. The objective of this meeting is to dissipate the bottlenecks which are the basis of the low production of cotton, soybeans and others, in order to provide appropriate solutions. The delegation was made up of the Minister of State responsible for the development and coordination of government action, Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, the Minister of State responsible for the economy and finance, Romuald Wadagni, the Minister of Agriculture of Livestock and Fisheries, Gaston Dossouhoui and Minister of Industry and Trade Shadiya Assouman. During the meeting, the ministers, in turn, provided solutions to the various concerns of producers in connection with the vision of the Talon government.

They also thanked the government which promised to offer them 4000 tractors to relieve the peasants. “We are very happy with this meeting with the government delegation, which came to explain to us what we had not understood. We wanted the price of cotton to improve and they promised it. The Minister of Agriculture and his trade counterpart have also promised us 4,000 tractors. With these, we can work better,” suggested the president of the Su tébo bèbè win association in Parakou, Paul Sounon. Same story with the president of the Gbéwougobou association of N’dali, Imorou Sakakora who was delighted with the negotiations that took place during the exchanges.

Between the lines : It should be noted that Minister Gaston Dossouhoui had also made a national tour to explain to soybean and cotton producers the government’s ambitions in the agricultural sector. With this new delegation, the producers of the north are convinced that the pillar of the Beninese economy is agriculture.
