The Government fails to meet the 7% disability quota in the new call for public employment

by time news

The Government does not comply with its own legislation regarding public employment offers in the General State Administration. This is denounced by the Ombudsman, Ángel Gabilondo, who warns the State of the “imperative nature” of the reservation for people with disabilities of a quota of not less than 7% of public employment positions by competition.

In the annual report that the body deposited in the Congress of Deputies, it is noted that the AGE and La Rioja have approved offers of public employment for the coverage of places by the competition system “without establishing the mandatory reservation of quota” of no less than to 7% of the places to be covered by people with disabilities. Something similar occurs in the Basque Country, where the last call for temporary employment stabilization referring to teaching staff does not establish any reservation of places for people with disabilities.

The Ombudsman has addressed these institutions to remind them of “the legal obligation to establish a quota for people with disabilities in merit competitions for the stabilization of temporary employment.” This warning comes just as the Council of Ministers has sent to Congress the Public Service Law in the General Administration, which will increase the number of places reserved for people with disabilities in future public employment offers from the current 7% to 10%. , and after approving yesterday in the Council of Ministers the Royal Decree to guarantee the accessibility and non-discrimination of people with disabilities in the access and use of public goods and services. For this reason, the Ombudsman has demanded a modification of the stabilization public employment offers so that 7% of the places are reserved for people with disabilities. At the moment, there has been no response.
