by time news

The government recently (Sunday) approved the early childhood reform of the Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Bitton, according to which the supervised day care centers are moving to the Ministry of Education.

The transition of early childhood to the responsibility of the Ministry of Education will, according to the Minister, enable the education system to create an educational and systemic sequence from birth to age 18, adapted to the child’s needs at all stages of education, growth and development. It will also allow the Ministry of Education to strengthen the infrastructure of skills and knowledge already in early childhood, and reduce social disparities in the earliest stages, even before the toddler enters kindergarten and school. The transition is also a continuation of the Day Care Supervision Law and the Camera Law, which was promoted by Dr. Shasha Bitton in her role as chair of the Knesset’s Child Rights Committee.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Yifat Shasha Bitton: “We promised and kept. During the historic day care centers move to the Ministry of Education. After years of anticipation this is finally happening, years of talking about the importance of the move and this has not happened to this day because politics has not allowed it, so we insisted that the transfer of dormitories be a significant part of the coalition agreements of new hope. Today we are turning a vision into a reality. We are now beginning the journey of building the educational system for preschoolers from birth. “
