The Russian government has approved new rules for the application of mandatory requirements for cars, follows from a decree published on the official portal of legal information. The document simplifies the certification of cars, which will allow the production of cars of a lower environmental class and without some systems that are currently not available due to sanctions.

The rules will be in effect until February 1, 2023. The list of requirements for assessing the conformity of the type of vehicles says that all election standards are in force in Russia, starting with environmental class 0 (“Euro-0”). Cars can be produced without the installation of the ERA-GLONASS emergency response system in case of accidents, but with mandatory retrofitting by February 1, 2023, and the ABS system.

On April 19, the Ministry of Industry and Trade submitted to the Russian government a draft regulation that will allow companies to produce cars with reduced requirements, including environmental ones. Under the sanctions, the amendments will help both manufacturers and buyers, the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted. If necessary, the validity of the document can be extended.
