By the end of 2024, esports courses should be included in the curriculum of Russian universities, both for technical and humanitarian specialties. This follows from the action plan included in the New General System Software (NOPO) roadmap for the period up to 2030. The document was approved by the government on December 16 (a copy is at the disposal of Vedomosti).

In the approved roadmap, Rostelecom and St. Petersburg State University of Telecommunications named after M.V. prof. M. A. Bonch-Bruevich (SPbSUT). Before the beginning of 2023, they should conduct a study and find examples of supplementing existing educational programs with eSports disciplines in other countries. Then, by June 2023, Rostelecom and ANO Tsifrovaya ekonomika should assemble a working group of representatives of the expert and university community. By 2024, the first educational programs “to be implemented in interested higher education institutions with the help of interested companies” should be determined, follows from the document.
