Finance and Trade Adviser spoke to reporters after the meeting with the IMF delegation
Finance and Trade Adviser said that assistance has been sought from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for reforming the country’s banking, income tax, VAT, prevention of money laundering and other economic sectors. Salehuddin Ahmed.
He said this in response to a question from journalists after a discussion with the IMF delegation visiting Dhaka at his office at the Secretariat on Tuesday (September 24).
The finance advisor said that reforms are underway in various sectors in the country. We need financial, technical and other support to advance them. For this, we are discussing not only with the IMF but also with the World Bank, ADB and other lenders. They assured us of the renovation work. However, we need to be careful to avoid duplication in collaboration. And these issues have been discussed with IMF representatives.
He said, the delegation wanted to know about our needs. I told them the details. They will discuss with Bangladesh Bank, NBR and other departments. The extent of their cooperation will then be finalized in October.
