Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the government is doing everything necessary for the treatment of those injured in the violence during the quota reform movement.

He said, ‘I see people as people. I work for all irrespective of party affiliation. What I do, I do for all people. I don’t care who supports me, who doesn’t. Because, I am the daughter of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. People voted me as PM to serve them. That’s how I serve.’

The Prime Minister visited the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College (Dhamek) Hospital on Friday (July 26) afternoon to inquire about the treatment of the injured. Later he said these things to reporters.

Urging everyone to unite against brutality, the Prime Minister said, ‘I will say this to the countrymen that those who are criminals should be found out. All must unite against this brutality, against such heinous incidents.’

He said, ‘I will again tell the countrymen, find out who is doing such heinous acts. They should be given appropriate punishment, so that no one can play with the lives of the people of this country again. I never wanted it. He said, ‘I have lost everything. I have lost all my parents and brothers. I know, what is the pain of losing? I think no one knows more than me.’

Criticizing the activities of BNP-Jamaat, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘This Jamaat-camp, BNP, Chhatra Dal – they are taking the opportunity of the quota movement and are doing this destructive work across the country. There is no humanity in them, no sympathy for the country, no sense of responsibility towards the country. They do not consider people as people.’

He said, ‘My question is, what is the achievement? How many people lost their lives. How many families were affected.’

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I remember that year 1971, in 2013 3 thousand 800 people were burnt and killed. Same again in 2014. The way the police was killed on October 28, 2023, this time also not just killing the police, but hanging the body. Awami League worker from Gazipur, killed and hanged. What brutality, what abomination. No humanity.’

He said, ‘I will appeal to the people of the country and the international community, this brutality, this terror and killing people, it is a complete act of terrorism. Cutting people’s hands, feet, veins, throwing our BCL boys from the 6th floor in Chittagong, cutting their veins. Attack on them even after falling. What kind of brutality is this!’

Referring to various measures for a peaceful environment and prosperity of the country, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I wanted, there will be peace in the country, the people of the country will prosper, the people of the country will live beautifully. He said, ‘How many times have they tried to kill me? Still I forget everything; The grief, the pain, the pain of losing parents and brothers, such a big injury on myself, I am working for the country by facing everything, so that people may be better. But, to create such a situation there and then attack the people. Destroying institutions that serve people. There is nothing more painful than this.’

The Prime Minister said, ‘This is creating an unusual situation. attack on hospitals; There was a covid hospital, burnt it down. Health departments, medical centers, where people are served, there is nothing worse than this.

The government has accepted all the demands of the students, he said, ‘We have accepted all the demands. Then again why, that is my question. Is it to enable militancy?’

Seeking prayers from the countrymen, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I will tell the countrymen, you pray. May people be freed from this militancy and oppression, peace will come in people’s lives.’
