The government has decided to purchase lentil, soybean oil and rice bran oil locally through open tender (national) system for Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB). The total cost will be 347 crore 2 lakh 80 thousand taka. This includes 10 thousand tons of lentils, 10 million liters of soybean oil and 5 million liters of rice bran oil.

On Wednesday (April 3) in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat, Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali chaired the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement, and approved three separate proposals in this regard.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department. Mahmudul Hossain Khan said that the proposal for the purchase of 10 million liters of soybean oil has been approved for the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) through the local open tender (national) system.

The cost has been estimated at 168 crore 27 lakh 80 thousand taka. The price of soybean per liter will be Tk 152.98. Which was earlier 155.97 Tk. This oil will be purchased from the domestic company City Edible Oil Limited.

In another proposal, the proposal to purchase 10,000 metric tons of lentils (in 50 kg sacks) through open tender (national) system has been approved.

The total cost will be 102 crore 75 lakh taka. The price of pulses per kg will be Tk 102.75. Which was earlier Tk 104.70. 5 thousand metric tons of lentils will be purchased from the domestic organization Sena Kalyan Sansthan and 5 thousand metric tons from Nabil Naba Food Limited.

Besides, the proposal for purchase of 50 lakh liters of rice bran oil has been approved in the same manner. It will cost 76 crore rupees. The price of rice bran oil will be Rs 152 per kg. Which was earlier 154.97 Tk. This oil will be purchased from Majumdar Bran Oil Mills Limited and Majumdar Products Limited.
