jpnn.com – Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said the government is considering electing regional heads who have no disputes at the Constitutional Court (MK) to be appointed first.

This was stated by Yusril after meeting with Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi at the State Palace, Jakarta, Friday (10/1).

Yusril at that time brought documents from the latest MK decision, regarding the inauguration of elected regional heads.

Currently, there are still approximately 310 disputes at the Constitutional Court that must go through the trial process.

“The government wants it to hopefully go smoothly, yes, this dispute will continue in the Constitutional Court, but if there is no dispute, it can be considered as to whether to be appointed first,” said Yusril to reporters.

Not only that, the government will also discuss with the Constitutional Court whether elected regional heads who are no longer in dispute can be appointed first.

“Does the Constitutional Court want the inauguration later, simultaneously, when the dispute has been resolved or can someone be appointed without a dispute first,” he said.

The former chairman of the UN admitted that currently he and the Minister of State Secretary and Minister of Home Affairs are discussing to find a solution.
