“Now, there are obviously agreements on almost everything, there is one still important point [de discussion et de désaccord pour le moment] which is the way we manage social benefits for foreigners”, however, M. Darmanin acknowledged.

“Those who come to work must be helped”added Gérald Darmanin, who assumes that the government “keep informed” in almost real time on the discussions held behind closed doors, due to a configuration of relative majority for the presidential camp. He said he had “confidence in the fact that an agreement will be reached” with the right and added that he would accept this bill, although it was toughened by the senatorial right, declaring that it is not “not a perfect text, because it was co-constructed with part of the opposition”, but defending “the gist of this text”, initially brought by the government, which remains, according to him, the expulsion “foreign delinquents” et “the integration of foreigners who remain on our soil”.
