Law Minister Anisul Haque said that the government wants to hold talks with the students who are agitating for quota reform.

The Law Minister said, in view of their proposal, the Prime Minister asked me to discuss; Law Minister and Education Minister Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury has been given the responsibility. We will sit with them and we also want to say that whenever they agree to sit, if it is today, we are ready to sit today.

He said this while talking to mediapersons at Ganobhaban on Thursday (July 18) around 3 pm.

He said that the hearing date of quota reform is being brought forward. He requested the Attorney General to hold a hearing on this matter next Sunday.

The Law Minister said that the Prime Minister has asked me to announce that the case which was scheduled to be heard on August 7, to take action to bring forward the hearing of the case. I have told the Attorney General of Bangladesh that he will apply to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh next Sunday. So that they bring forward the hearing date of the case.

Six people were killed in clashes in different parts of the country last Tuesday during the students’ movement. The law minister also said that a judicial investigation committee has been formed with High Court judge Khondkar Diliruzzaman in this regard.
