The government wants to “re-examine” the drug funding model. The executive has instructed a panel of health industry experts to make initial proposals within three months on how the state could otherwise regulate their prices. All this to avoid shortages and guarantee access to innovations without causing the Social Security bill to soar. A first meeting with these experts was held on Wednesday at Matignon.
“Until now, the financial envelope devoted to health products has been globally controlled thanks to the existing regulatory levers”, notes the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne in the mission letter that “Les Echos” was able to consult. However, “it is clear that tensions and supply disruptions are more and more numerous”. In addition, “industrial players are expressing their fears in the face of a risk of gradual relocation or the cessation of certain productions”.
