“The money is allocated from the government reserve fund. The Ministry of Defense will control the efficiency of spending, ”the government’s website said in a statement.
The funds, in particular, will be used for piping the recently explored drinking water wells. This procedure provides for the installation of equipment and work related to the protection of the source from external influences. In addition, part of the subsidy is planned to be used to connect the wells to the water supply network. This will provide water supply directly to Sevastopol.
This week, the government also allocated 222 million rubles from the reserve fund. for well piping in Crimea. In addition, a plan to provide water supply to the peninsula worth 48 billion rubles was previously approved.
Until 2014, 85% of Crimea’s needs for fresh water through the North Crimean Canal were provided by the mainland of Ukraine. After the annexation of the peninsula to Russia, the Ukrainian authorities closed the canal, resulting in problems with water supply in the region.
