The government will eliminate the risk of rising prices for medical products

Tax preferences will be retained for medical devices and equipment. The regulatory lag created the risk that from 2022, all medical products – from the simplest thermometers to ventilators – could begin to charge 20% VAT and, as a result, the price would rise. On November 18, the State Duma adopted in the third reading a bill that eliminates this gap in legislation.

Under the current law, the right of manufacturers to confirm the VAT exemption with a certificate of registration of a Russian-made medical product expires in 2021. Amendments to the Tax Code will cancel this restriction. “Tax preferences remain,” – assured the representative of the Ministry of Finance.
