The Government spokesperson again referred to the case that links Irina Karamanos with ProCultura, following a publication that claimed that the PDI detected suspicious payments from Boric’s ex-partner to the foundation.
The Government Spokesperson Minister, Camila Vallejoagain addressed the alleged connection of the former partner of President Gabriel Boric, Irina Karamanos and the ProCultura Foundation, where he assured that “there are three categorical denials of what appeared in the media.”
It all arose from a publication by El Mostrador, which stated that the PDI detected five suspicious payments that Karamanos would have made to the account of said foundation.
Given this, Gabriel Boric came out to support his ex-partner and stated that he “fully trusts” her and that he will collaborate in “all the necessary steps.” In addition to this, Karamanos denied that he had paid money to ProCultura and He handed over his bank notes to the Prosecutor’s Office.
Camila Vallejo’s defense of Irina Karamanos regarding alleged links to the Agreements Case
In this context, the Minister Spokesperson for the Government, Camila Vallejo, in conversation with CHV Noticias, maintained that there is “three categorical denials of this that appeared in the media“.
Firstly, he explained that “one pointed out that the investigation had been abandoned after the suspension of prosecutor Carlos Palma,” who was removed from his work for being investigated for the Audios Case.
However, the Government authority said that “it was immediately denied by the Coquimbo Regional Prosecutor’s Office itselfsaying that the investigation was not paralyzed, that it was advanced.”
Secondly, he explained that “it was pointed out through the media that the PDI had requested to summon Irina Karamanos as a defendant for the investigation, and the general director of the PDI denied that.”
To close, Camila Vallejo stated that “Irina categorically denied that she paidOn the contrary, he said I received a salary for working in a certain period, of almost $900 thousand and he said that he was also going to hand over all the letters so that it would be clearer and any doubts about that the investigation will have to clear up.”
“That is what we have as official information from the Government and we also understand that the ProCultura case, beyond this fact that was denied, there is a large investigation of ProCultura and possible responsible parties that the Prosecutor’s Office is developing and which we hope will obviously come to fruition, as in any other case associated with foundations,” he concluded.
