Governor gives in to government on university issues after sharp differences of opinion. The new position taken by the Governor is that the government can appoint anyone as the temporary VC of the Technical University.

The Raj Bhavan’s letter says that Digital University VC Dr. Saji Gopinath can be given the charge or one person can be appointed from the three-member list provided earlier by the government. Earlier, the governor rejected all the demands of the government, including giving the charge to Saji Gopinath. Adverse judgments from the courts were the main reason for the governor’s change of stance. Technical University temporary VC Dr. Sisa Thomas will retire on 31st. It remains to be seen whether the government will soften its stance on matters including the position of chancellor when the governor’s strictness is relaxed.
