The gown worn by Princess Diana was recently auctioned and it was a huge surprise that the gown fetched millions.
A purple gown worn by Princess Diana was recently auctioned and a business tycoon is said to have bid for the gown for $600,000. It is noteworthy that this amount is about 5 crores in Indian value.
Princess Diana, who lived like a walking fashion show, reportedly wore the gown in a famous Vanity Fair photoshoot in 1997 and in a royal portrait taken by Princess Margaret’s husband, Lord Snowden, in 1991.
Designed by British fashion designer Victor Edelstein, this gown is purple in color. This gown is said to have been made by him for Diana. Speaking about the gown in an interview, Victor said, ‘When I started designing these dresses for her I felt like the little girl’s clothes were oversized.’ And this gown is very elegant and sophisticated,” he added.
In June 1997, Diana sold 80 of her dresses to raise funds for AIDS and cancer charities. After that her dress is now being auctioned.
